Woodford
Historical Society
Transport yourself to the pivotal moment on June 29, 1998, when the Woodford Historical Society sprouted from a meeting convened by Mr. Ron Trim. The purpose was clear – to assess community interest in establishing a Historical Society in Woodford. Present were a passionate group including Ron and Vera Bateman, Laurel Phillips, Beryl Stringer, Marlene Clews, Col Chadderton, Alan Trim, Carol O’Brien, Ivan Wild, Jean Black, Norm and Shirley Riddle.
Ron Trim extended a warm welcome to all, including notable guests like Caboolture Shire Mayor Tom McLoughlin, members of the Caboolture Historical Society, and Councillor Greg Chippendale. Expressions of interest were sought, leading to a unanimous decision, with Norm Riddle moving and Carol O’Brien seconding the motion to form the Historical Society.
Mr. Trim then handed over the reins to Mr. Chippendale for the election of a steering committee. The following were duly elected:
- Chairman: Mr. Ron Trim
- Secretary: Mrs. Carol O’Brien
- Assistant Secretary: Mrs. Shirley Riddle
- Treasurer: Mr. Norm Riddle
This momentous occasion marked the beginning of a collective endeavor to preserve and share the rich history of Woodford. Join us in honoring the dedication of these founding members and the exciting journey they initiated.
